How Does Bet9ja BetFREEZE Works ?
When you freeze a selection, Bet9ja uses this formula to recalculate the odds:
Frozen Odds = Original Placed Odds ÷ (Current Live Odds + Margin)
The bigger the gap between your original odds and the current odds, the more favourable the freeze. If odds have dropped since you placed the bet, freezing costs you less.

Step 1: Open Your Active Bet
Go to “My Bets” and find the accumulator you want to modify.
Step 2: Tap the BetFREEZE Icon
You’ll see a freeze icon next to eligible selections. Tap it to see the recalculated odds and new potential payout.
Step 3: Confirm the Freeze
Accept the new odds. The selection is now permanently locked as won. It cannot be reversed.
⚠️ Important:
A frozen selection cannot be unlocked. Once you freeze, it’s permanent. Review the recalculated payout carefully before confirming.
Conditions of Use
There are 2 Conditions before you must be eligible to use Bet9ja Betfreeze. They are explained below;
- To activate betFREEZE, the bet slip must contain a minimum of three (3) selections.
- The maximum number of selections that can be frozen is determined according to the total number of selections in the bet slip, as shown below:

Your bet must have at least 3 selections to use BetFREEZE. And if only 1 selection remains running, you cannot freeze it. There must always be at least one live leg.

The frozen odds calculation: 3.50 ÷ (2.00 + 0.10) = 1.66. The payout dropped from ₦277.20 to ₦131.40, but Match 3 is now guaranteed won.
Example on How to Use Bet9ja betFREEZE
- A customer places a 4-fold accumulator with the following selections:
- Match 1: Odds 2.00
- Match 2: Odds 1.80
- Match 3: Odds 3.50
- Match 4: Odds 2.20
- The initial total odds are: 2.00 × 1.80 × 3.50 × 2.20 = 27.72
- The customer stakes N10, with a potential payout of N277.20.
- Match 3 odds drop from 3.50 to 2.00. The customer decides to apply betFREEZE to Match 3.
- Placed odds = 3.50
- Current odds = 2.00
- Margin = 0.10 (example value)
- Frozen odds = 3.50 / (2.00 + 0.10) = 1.66
- From this point, Match 3 is considered automatically won, and the frozen odds of 1.66 replace the original 3.50.
- The new accumulator odds are recalculated as:
2.00 × 1.80 × 1.66 × 2.20 = 13.14 - The updated potential payout with a N10 stake is now N113.14, instead of N277.20.

BetFREEZE vs Cash Out
Both reduce risk. But they solve different problems.
