To judge the winners and losers, we look at the teams already listed from the perspective of how strong they are.
Winners of the FIFA World Cup 2026 Schedule
Brazil
Brazil are firm favorites to get out of Group C and it cannot be anything more than what Carlos Ancelotti would have hoped for.
They’ve got just one strong opponent in Morocco and the other two teams should be manageable fixtures – Haiti and Scotland.
We believe Brazil would bring their A game with solid wingers like Vini Jr., Estevao, Rodrygo, Raphinha, Martinelli, Cunha – there’s a mix of young players and experience in the squad.
The kind of squad depth that Brazil have is something that Haiti and Scotland may struggle to cope with and even though Morocco are talented, they are underdogs compared to Brazil.
USA
One of the three host nations and I think they could not have had it any easier.
USA is drawn in Group D and they will be facing Paraguay, Australia, and the Playoff C winner – Türkiye and Romania/Slovakia and Kosovo.
They may not be easy wins but they aren’t impossible for the host nation.
Why USA are winners:
- Every match is winnable
- Familiar stadiums and climate advantage
- Opponents with limited attacking firepower
Only Turkey, if they qualify can boast of quality attacking strengths.
Netherlands
The Dutch team went all the way to the semi-final of the 2022 World Cup losing to Argentina, the later winners, on penalties despite coming from 2 goals down courtesy of a Wout Weghorst brace.
Netherlands should work hard enough to dispatch the teams in their group – Japan who are strong are actually very predictable and Tunisia struggle to play against teams that love to keep the ball.
The Playoff B winner—Ukraine, Sweden, Poland, or Albania—offers challenges but no giants.
It is not a stretch to say that the Dutch should be comfortable with every game of the group.
Belgium
Belgium has a group that is tailored to their strength.
One of their biggest weaknesses has been defending transitions and the teams they have in Group G aren’t as explosive enough to cause them any real troubles.
Spain
If there is a team that could go on to win the 2026 World Cup, it is Spain and what better way to start their campaign than being in a group where the only real bother should be Uruguay.
Saudi Arabia looked like a threat when they won Argentina in their first game at the Qatar World Cup but losing to Mexico and Poland showed that they may just have been lucky.
Cabo Verde certainly are no match for the youthful squad that Spain would field at the World Cup.
Argentina
Fans who thought Argentina had decisions favoring them at the 2022 World Cup would be gutted to see how easy their path to the Round of 16 would be.
They have the easiest matchups considering the experience and depth of their squad – Austria, Jordan, and Algeria could put up fights but they wouldn’t do much to threaten the position of Argentina.
Portugal
Ronaldo’s last dance should be easy, only Colombia stand in their way. Not to write off the other teams – Uzbekistan and either New Caledonia/Jamaica v Congo DR – but we do not see how they stand a chance against the star-studded Portuguese national team and a hungry Ronaldo.
Losers of the 2026 World Cup Schedule
South Africa
South Africa are going to be one of the few teams that may have things a little bit difficult for themselves.
They face one of the hosts Mexico in what would be the first game of the 2026 World Cup.
And if Korea does not look like a threat, you should note that they are a team that brings their A-game to the World Cup.
With Denmark/Czechia/Ireland/North Macedonia coming through the playoffs, South Africa could clearly be the underdogs of the group.
Canada
Canada may be hosts but judging from their records in previous editions of the World Cup, they may struggle to show decent showings.
They featured in the 1986 and 2022 World Cup leaving both at the group stage. They did not win any of the six games they have played in the World Cup and have only scored twice conceding 12.
Canada would be playing Switzerland, a team that only struggles when facing pacy and highly tactical teams. See the full predictz predictions for the upcoming matches.
Qatar are not established in the International scene so there’s not much to say about them.
And the teams in the play off spots – Italy or Wales/Bosnia or Northern Ireland – could be a handful for Canada.
Norway
Norway may have whizzed through the qualifier stage scoring 37 goals in 8 matches including a record 11-1 over Moldova. But the actual World Cup stage would prove to be a different ball game entirely.
Definitely the fixture against the Playoff 2 winner (Iraq or Suriname/Bolivia) would be their easiest but having to face Senegal and France could prove difficult.
